I haven’t checked my e-mail since yesterday, and I got flooded today with more than 20 messages. Most are just subscriptions to some random stuff you guys wouldn’t probably care about. But one was from my professor.

Subject: Your Midterm Exam

Message: ?

Uhm, I’m sorry. What about my midterm exam? Did I not submit it in class? Why are you sending me an e-mail with just a question mark?

I will get back to your e-mail first thing tomorrow morning with an obviously longer reply compared to what you sent me. This just irritates me. I don’t even know what I’m going to say because I don’t know what’s the question before the question mark!

It’s been a while since I’ve posted something fairly decent so I’m making it up to you guys with this post. I’ve thought about making this tutorial for quite some time now, but never pushed through with it since I thought there were a lot of tutorials about this when you Google it. Apparently not. All the badges I saw were those with the jagged edges, and that doesn’t even come close to what I want.

Tutorial images are posted in hi-res so they’re better seen/viewed in my blog rather than the dashboard.

I think this is the first Valentine’s that I don’t have anything planned. No cards or letters and whatnot. Haha. I’ve been too busy the past few weeks that I haven’t really given it much thought. And I have classes ‘til 9 in the evening tomorrow so… I don’t really know. I think Nikolo has some plans. Well, he had. I have no idea if we’re pushing through with it though, considering the weather. Ah well, we’re just going to wing it.

Having no plans feels weird.

Built on a bed of indie film instrumentation and close mic’d coziness, Lullatone’s new album Soundracks for Everyday Adventures is their most expressive and expansive work to date. Hints of chamber pop, instrumental twee and modern classical weave seamlessly between the 15 pieces on the album.

I stumbled upon this album early this morning as I was looking for new music to download for my iTunes. I consider it a really great find.

“For this album we tried to make songs that could soundtrack all of the little things in your life feel like they are special parts of a film.Maybe not too dramatic parts, or intense parts, but just everyday magic kind of stuff.”

I can’t work properly without any sort of music in the background. I would usually just blast Paramore songs, songs from Billboard’s Hot 100, or Chico and Delamar podcasts. This album brings a whole new level to the sort of music I listen to while working. This should put me at ease and get my creative juices flowing.

Sudden Hiatus

So sorry about the sudden absence from the blogverse. I’ve been swamped with school work and I’m trying to spend as much time as possible with Nikolo since summer’s around the corner and I won’t be seeing him that much by then. *insert sad face*

Not to worry, I have two more glitter packs to release and I think I will finally get the time to work on that PSD to HTML tutorial. I finished coding the layout a few weeks back, but never really got around to starting with the tutorial. I’ll continue making resources for everyone, I just need a little more time to brainstorm and a break from school stuff.

I was invited to be a speaker for a seminar at DLSU this Wednesday and I have no idea how I’m going to pull this off. I’m not yet done reviewing all my notes, I still feel like I lack the knowledge to pull off my speaker duties. But nevertheless, I shall do what I can and give it my best, this opportunity doesn’t come very often.

Nikolo, you have absolutely no idea how hard it was to compose myself for this shot. Squealing like a little girl on the inside and itching to let it out, but I can’t afford to have a bad picture so standing still really wasn’t much of an option.

Thank you for this night. How I wish the sidewalk was made of grass so I could have lied down and looked at the stars with you. We’ll get to do that one day without us having to break our necks.

I realized my previous layout looked a bit too professional and I was getting frustrated by being limited to just 500 pixels wide images. So I worked on a new one for around two days, and I’m really happy with what I have now. I’ll work on improving it for the next few days, but I’m SURE that I won’t be replacing it soon. Hopefully!

In a way, I think it is. You shouldn’t really follow trends all the time. But you should try to stay away from trends that have long died. Say.. grunge. It used to be a really big hit in the internet, but people are now leaning into minimalist and subtly textured designs. Some people still use it, but not as much.

Flash websites were also a big trend before. It’s not mobile-device-friendly though, so people are resorting to HTML5 and CSS3 with the help of jQuery to do the same effects that Flash can do.

On the 18th (US Timezone), I’m joining the largest online protest in history.

Ever since the bill was considered, I have been in great disapproval of it. I even wrote a mock documentary script focusing on the effects of SOPA to everyday lives as one of my school requirements. I followed closely how the bill was going through the US Government. 20th of December last year, the House Judiciary Committee cancelled the hearing for SOPA. They’re putting it up for vote again this week.

I may not live in the US, but I work for the Internet. Everything in my job requires the Internet. Well, maybe not everything. But I need it and if anything “seems suspicious to the government” or “submitted by a user and violates the SOPA” gets blocked, then what will be left?
